Carbon fiber has its appeal, but at a serious cost to your bank account, and when long adventures off the beaten path with a fully loaded steed is your prerogative, it's just not fully necessary. Ridley's X-Trail Ultegra Allroad Bike finds itself at home far beyond the mainstream, pedaling up long gravel roads to vistas only seen by other very dedicated adventurers, fully loaded with gear for finding a home neatly under the bows of a tree for the night, and onward. It's got a lower bottom bracket, shorter chainstays, and a stack/reach combination that leaves riders in less of a shoulder-intensive, slammed racing position but rather a more comfortable, long-miles position. In contrast to its road racing frames, Ridley extended the X-Trail's head tube by 10mm, bringing rider...
