Back in the day people used mattresses for crash pads. Today we have the Incubator FTS Crash Pad. This quad-fold of a landing strip gives us plenty of confidence when we dry fire thanks to its energy-absorbing foam that softens our fall. Plus the shoulder straps and hip belt are padded making the approach a pinch easier. Mattresses didn't have that.
