Sleeves had a good run, but now it's 2019 and it's time to reevaluate whether our arms actually need to be covered -- what's the point' Louis Garneau went ahead and skipped the sleeves, designing the Alpha Women's Vest to provide warmth and coverage for your core, where you actually need it. The Alpha saves you on chilly rides with a lightweight synthetic insulation, a windproof front, a stretchy and breathable back, and a highly packable design that lets you stuff it easily into a jersey pocket. Wind protection is paramount, so LG makes the front of the Alpha from X-Lite 19, a completely windproof fabric that is, as the name suggests, seriously lightweight. Lining the front is Polartec Alpha 60g synthetic insulation, which traps heat close to your body for increased warmth, while stretchy, warm, and breathable Polartec PowerStretch Pro softshell at the back helps regulate your temperature and provide mobility. The armhole binding is also stretchy, so you won't be restricted if you take the Alpha onto the Nordic ski trails or out for a cold-weather jog. The Alpha might be lightweight and easily packable, but it's not minimalist when it comes to features. Two zippered pockets, one at the front and one at the back, let you stash away snacks and a multitool, while the offset front zipper, brushed collar top, and soft zipper garage prevent chin irritation. An internal flap behind the zipper keeps wind from penetrating to your skin, and plenty of reflective accents help you stay visible when you're on the road.
