If there's one thing the K2 Pinnacle 118 Ski loves, it's going big. The most awarded powder ski in its lineup, K2 built this versatile charger for straightlining the steep and deep, boosting off cliffs, and dropping stacks of pillows in BC. The heart of the Pinnacle is the Konic core, where K2 employs poppy aspen to keep weight down and nimble agility up, then adds sections of stiff fir around the center of the core, which gives the ski a hard-charging and aggressive feel without the deadness that a metal laminate can cause. Indeed, the Pinnacle's totally metal-free, with only highly energetic carbon stringers proving extra stiffness and energy to rip you through aggressive turns on pow and through chunder. At 118mm underfoot, the Pinnacle's pretty obviously a soft-snow ski, and a glance at the Powder Rocker profile will confirm its preferences. Powder Rocker employs a generous amount of rise in the tip and tail to help you surf through powder and slash big ol' hero turns when going sideways is on the menu, but has enough camber underfoot that you can rally through choppy runouts and down groomers without losing control. Hybritech half-cap construction features sidewalls underfoot for edge bite and stiffness, with a cap in the tip and tail to decrease swing weight and keep the Pinnacle nimble, because even if you rip like a pro, you're most likely going to have to shimmy your way through tight spots sometimes.
