Building upon the platform of the widely successful Mojo HD3, the HD4 goes into longer and slacker territory in order to bring greater confidence on the steep and fast terrain you'd find in the world's most challenging enduro races. The longer reach figures and slacker head tube angle help the bike attack descents with newfound haste, while the steeper seat tube angle and highly-efficient DW-Link suspension ensure you don't lose the remarkable pedaling performance and agile handling the HD3 was known for. Its development was driven by the needs of Ibis's professional enduro team, which piloted the bike to some stellar results in the EWS, walking away as the #1 ranked team shortly after the bike's initial release and proving just how awesome this bike truly is. And though Ibis recently released the HD5, it's not vastly different than the HD4--mostly just minor geometry tweaks, a revised shock tune, and a longer travel front fork. This means the two bikes perform very similarly, but the HD4 can be had without shelling out nearly as many of your hard-earned dollars. Looking at the geometry of the HD4, you'll notice that the reach is substantially longer than it's predecessor the HD3. The longer reach gives Mojo HD4 riders a roomier cockpit so you can run a shorter stem and reap the benefits of a longer wheelbase for extra stability when you're pushing the bike to its limits on wide open descents. The bikes are now truer to size and you will not have to size up as Ibis noticed many riders did on past models. Lengthening the reach was one part of the equation for better enduro handling, and slackening the head tube angle is the other. Ibis experimented and did some real-world testing and found the perfect balance at 64. 9-degrees.
