Gore's WindStopper membrane, sandwiched between two layers of fabric, makes riding in cold air pretty much like riding in less-cold air. It blocks the chilly air from entering the jacket, which allows your core to heat the inside of the jacket. And, if the day's not all that chilly, zip the sleeves off.
