Giordana's G Shield line made its name as one of the most breathable options in the burgeoning field of race-fit, weather-resistant kit options. The ability to slough off light precipitation and block wind while staying breathable is G Shield's obvious appeal, but the system is also so effective because it's modular. Instead of only full tights, for example, Giordana offers the option of building a flexible wardrobe by pairing G Shield shorts with the AV G Shield Leg Warmers. This lets you tailor protection for just about any conceivable weather conditions encountered from fall through spring. The latest G Shield Warmers feature the same updates as the rest of the line--most notably the new Acqua Zero Eco water-repellent treatment. Giordana claims that the new treatment further improves water-repellency while reducing the manufacturing process' environmental impact. It's hard to argue against either benefit. Giordana keeps the construction to a one-seam affair, too, which reduces the chances of water finding a point of ingress. The warmers also now feature Giordana's new Pixel reflective bands at the ankles, which puts a hit of eye-catching reflectivity at a spot that's constantly moving while you pedal. The idea behind this makes perfect sense: motion plus reflectivity equals a better chance of being seen by other road users. The top hem is finished with a double sided gripper, which glues the warmers to your thighs and your shorts in order to eliminate gaps. If you're running the warmers with the corresponding AV G Shield bibs, then the latter's long legs will probably make coverage gap worries a moot point, but a little extra security is as hard to argue against as the increased repellency and reduced ecological footprint noted above.
