There was a time when the only weight weenies around were roadies and the occasional cross-country racer, but with the progression of the sport, weights are being dropped on all steeds, from your gravel-grinder, to all-out gravity beasts. With lightweight carbon gracing frames left and right, it's only natural to crave a featherweight option on the crank department, and e*thirteen delivers with the TRS Race Carbon Crank Arms. These lightweight cranks come into their fourth generation this year, and while they keep the same ultra-light compression-molded carbon fiber techniques we've seen in previous years, they pack in a host of changes thanks to some valuable rider feedback, and we're excited to the updates. While the TRS Race G3 cranks were a fan favorite, the G4 slims down the cranks further, increasing heel clearance, which was an issue echoed in the previous generation. With wider chainstays than ever before, this narrower profile sets you up for a smoother pedal stroke, and less risk of getting hung up when you're ready to hit the gas, and every second counts. The 4th Gen also sees the spindle moved to the non drive side of the crank, meaning that the chainring and drive-side crank arm attach together, and you don't need to remove the crankset entirely to do quick chainring swaps. The cranks use an 8-millimeter self-extractor nut, meaning there are no proprietary tools necessary for installation, all you'll need to get the job done is your handy 8mm Allen wrench. Finally, the chainline on the crank is adjustable, so it can accommodate your ride, whether it uses non-Boost, Boost, or Super Boost spacing.
