Black Diamond built the Hot Lap's shell out of durable goatskin leather--a suitable choice considering our hircine mascot--and waterproof windproof breathable Pertex Shield for performance and protection specific to backcountry touring. The goatskin leather reinforces the glove for long-lasting durability while providing grip for skinning the steeps; the Pertex Shield sheds snow off the back of the glove's hand and it blocks breezes while allowing more moisture to pass through so the inside of the glove doesn't get clammy just when the laps get hot.
