When SRAM's one-by-twelve Eagle drivetrain was introduced, it marked an evolutionary step forward in the company's commitment to eliminating the front derailleur for good. Once we first got a taste of its massive 500% gear range without having to deal with a pesky front derailleur, we instantly understood its significance on the marketplace. Determined to reach a wider group of trail riders concerned with price, SRAM introduces the GX Eagle 12-Speed BB30 Direct Mount BOOST Crankset as a low-cost alternative to the pricier XO1 and XX1 options in Eagle's line. Not only does it seamlessly match the budget-friendly GX Eagle Group, but it's also fully compatible with higher-end XO1 and XX1 Eagle offerings, should you suffer a catastrophic crash and need a low-cost alternative to get you back on the trail. Instead of employing a fancier carbon construction, the GX Eagle Crankset features 7000-series aluminum arms for an optimal strength-to-weight. This design shaves about 70 grams from the previous GX Crankset for 1x11 drivetrains, showcasing SRAM's commitment to continual improvements in design. The X-Sync 2-tooth chainring design maintains chain tension with its variable thickness teeth, meaning you won't suffer annoying chain drops when you're rallying over rugged trails. Its direct mount interface allows you to quickly swap chainring sizes, should you desire to go the aftermarket route for additional gearing options. This particular version has a 52-millimeter chainline for bikes with BOOST axle spacing, as well as 30-millimeter spindle diameter for BB30 bottom brackets.
