If you live in a climate like that of our home office in Park City, Utah, then you know the joys and difficulties of riding a bike in a winter wonderland. Whether it's fat bike riding on snow-packed singletrack or sneaking out for a solitary ride between snow storms and road plows, winter cycling is a treat -- but only if you have the right gear. When we layer for riding under 42 degrees Fahrenheit, we start with Gore Bike Wear's Base Layer Functional Turtleneck. This thing is unadulterated base-layer loveliness, featuring a stretchy thermal fabric and a tight fit that contours to your body for a fit that doesn't add bulk. It has a more elastic version of Gore's ubiquitous Windstopper fabric in parts of the front, sleeves, shoulders, and kidneys. The back is also extended for extra coverage while you're stretched out on the bars. Seams are kept to a minimum, and the ones that are present are flatlock stitched so they won't chafe. The snug collar keeps the breeze out and includes an abbreviated zipper for ventilation. The zipper has an underflap for comfort. The Gore Bike Wear Base Layer Functional Turtleneck Shirt - Long Sleeve - Women's is available in six sizes ranging from X-Small to XX-Large in the colors Black and White.
