We've gone on record saying that we prefer bibs to shorts, but there are a few instances that shorts might make more sense, think spin class, going to the restroom, or a really hot summer ride. Unfortunately, in most cases, shorts tend to fall more into the entry-level spectrum but not so with these shorts. Giordana constructs the Lungo Short with the same attention to detail and construction as its bib short cousin sans suspenders. Judging these shorts on looks alone, it's easy to see how Giordana targets the Lungo shorts towards the refined rider. There is no shortage of premium material and hints of style in a slightly less aggressive fit that is still designed to be comfortable while in the riding position. The Lungo Short consists of a soft, quick-drying material with a few strategically-placed compression zones helping to provide support for the long days in the saddle. Giordana had casual rides, fondos, and tours in mind while designing this short, and we think you'll find it much more comfortable while waiting in line at the coffee shop than a hyper-specific race pair of shorts that really don't feel great unless you are in a low and aero position. One of the most defining features of the Lungo shorts is its yoga-inspired, wide, supportive, elastic-free waistband, which Giordana constructs using a crossover, scooped shape providing support that doesn't try to cut you in two. The shorts are just as comfortable at the start of the ride as they are at the finish. Giordana calls upon the Cirro for chamois duty, prized for its slim, low profile design. It offers all the support you need for comfort and is very breathable and flexible, yet not so bulky that it's noticeable or annoying. The soft, nonrestrictive leg bands keep the Lungo's in place so you can focus on the ride and not creeping hemlines.
