We're afforded a lot of luxuries in today's age of mountain bikes. One of those is a massive assortment to choose from -- which can be both a blessing and a curse. Weaving through all of the options, from frames to components, can be stress inducing, so we'll make it easier for you: ENVE's M630 29in Wheelset covers just about all of your bases, with a lighweight carbon layup that's stiff enough for major efforts, and won't waiver when you decide to cook it into drops, or turn rollers into doubles. The M630 wheelset is poised for all day rides that carry you beyond the last cell tower, weaving up steep switchbacks to urn untamed miles of descents, laced with drops, tight trees, and root lattices. The internal width sits at 30mm and is ideal for 29-inch tires ranging from 2. 3 through 2. 5-inches. The most exciting feature on the rims is a wider hookless bead that gives a better buffer against the trail, thus improving durability and reducing the likelihood of a pinch flat so you can run lower pressure for better traction and rolling resistance. The M630 is damn-near ideal for contemporary trail bikes and their mid-sized tire clearance. The wheels shed close to 40 grams of rim weight versus ENVE's HV equivalent, all the while offering 4mm greater internal width. We're sure the secret to being lighter, wider, and more durable is safely tucked away on an ENVE engineer's hard drive, but we have no doubt that the company burned the midnight oil to bring this wheel to market. The redesigned, wider hookless bead is perhaps the biggest takeaway, as its increased durability and tire-saving design are worth the upgrade over the outgoing M60 Forty HV. Running higher volume tires makes sense as soon as you try it, and the increased rim width on offer here is just more of a good thing.
