Gloves are a very important product in Castelli's lineup. When Maurizio Castelli started the brand in the mid 70's, the first accessory emblazoned with the now famous scorpion logo were a pair of gloves. Castelli would go on to sponsor the powerhouse Brooklyn team and one of its racers, Giovanni Mantovani, used the gloves and stashed a pair away. Many years later, Giovanni became a sales rep for Castelli and he still has those gloves from the '70's. The unique thumb construction was somehow lost over the years but Castelli noted how well it wrapped around the hand and interfaced with the bar on the tops, hoods, and drops. Castelli took it upon itself to create a modern take on this classic cycling glove. Enter the Maestro Glove. The palm is constructed from leather for maximum durability and the medium foam provides the padding that your Benotto bar tape does not. It features perforations for breathability. The back of the hand is also made from leather and has ventilation holes keeping hands feeling and looking cool. A nice classic touch is the scorpion button on the hook-and-loop closure. Pairs perfectly while riding a vintage bike during l'Eroica or any special ride.
