The Custom X bolsters the construction found in the Custom by using Burton's 45-degree Carbon Highlights Hi-Voltage construction, meaning the board's fiberglass has highly responsive carbon strands within its fiberglass layup. This provides the excellent dampening and torsional rigidity needed for high-speed, white-knuckle riding.
